About the Writer
My name is Talia, and I love to eat.
Ever since I went away to summer camp and wrote my mother pages and pages about the grilled cheese I ate for lunch or the marsh mellows I roasted, I knew I had to write about food. I grew up in Montreal, where I trained my taste buds on poutine, chicken tikka masala, and my grandma’s matzoh ball soup. I was lucky enough to grow up with two food-pushing Jewish grandmothers in a world-class food capital, but I think I would have found my way to the table no matter what.
This past summer, I wrote about food for NPR’s Public Radio Kitchen and helped put together Boston Magazine‘s Summer Fun and 2010 Best of Boston issues, which entailed me eating a lot of weird flavors of ice cream and two tons of fried clams and fresh oysters…I know, my life is really hard. After shoveling half of Boston into my mouth (oh, and getting my degree in magazine journalism and design from Emerson College), I’m packing up my cookbooks and heading out to Los Angeles, where I plan on trying every taco in the city, no matter how questionable.
If you’ve got anywhere you think I should take my camera and my hungry stomach, please leave the restaurant and address in the comments below. I’d also love to see your snapshots and hear about your great meals — send ‘em my way at theplategazer@gmail.com.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Happy plate gazing!
